I am very excited to welcome Susanna Block as our Curriculum Development/Implementation Specialist for next year! Susanna is an exceptionally thoughtful and student-centered educator, who brings more than a decade of experience as a teacher and administrator to this role. She has served as both a teacher and leader, and has led efforts to shape curriculum at both the lower and middle school levels.

Susanna comes to us most recently from Newton Country Day School of the Sacred Heart in Massachussetts, where she served as a Math teacher. She was the Interim Math Chair and Math Specialist at Berkeley-Carroll in Brooklyn, and was the Learning Specialist at the Hewitt School in Manhattan. She has also taught Math and Science (including Biology and Introduction to Physical Sciences) at schools in Connecticut.

Susanna is excited about developing curriculum, supporting teachers, and teaching Math. She enthusiastically described her commitment to equity, and to developing ways to deeply engage students in Math and Science. Her references characterized her as an excellent teacher, very strong collaborator, and deep thinker. One of her references described how much she misses working with Susanna, and how lucky any school would be to have her as a member of their community.

Susanna holds an Ed.D in 21 st Century Education from Johns Hopkins University, an M.S. in Neuroscience and Education from Columbia, and a B.A. in History and Science from Harvard.
